Sapulpa largely unscathed by storms, Blue Bell Church takes serious damage

While Sapulpa was able to get by with largely little to show from Tuesday’s storms, some of our more rural outposts weren’t so lucky. Some damage was reported by several folks out on Hwy 33, including some severe damage to the roof the longtime Blue Bell Baptist Church, just a mile or so down the road from where Hwy 33 intersects with Hwy 66.

Chunks of the church’s roof decking are missing, with bare shingles hanging out in the wind or along the parking lot. Playground equipment was blown over, and a large tree was toppled by the storm.

While no official word has said that there was a tornado, wind gusts were extremely strong. The evidence is there.
