Shortly before Thanksgiving, Sapulpa’s Chamber of Commerce canceled the Sapulpa Christmas Parade, in a response to rising Coronavirus cases. The cancelation was announced “with great regret,” and was met with a mixture of approval and criticism. It was the first time in memory that the parade had been canceled in over 100 years.

There are still several holiday-themed events happening in the area, however—including a parade or two. Here’s what’s on the calendar, starting tomorrow. (Do you have an event you want us to add? Contact us to let us know.)

Sapulpa Main Street’s “Cookie Crawl” is the first of its annual “Jingle and Mingle” celebration for 2020. The Cookie Crawl happens Thursday, December 3rd, from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. There are a very small amount of Cookie Kits left to purchase for this. Buy yours or get more details here.

Kellyville giving away nearly 200 bicycles after its parade

Kellyville, for its part, is stepping up the festivities this year, not only providing a parade, but also featuring several other events the same day. Here is what Kellyville has planned for Sunday, December 6th:

2:00 pm – A judging and award for best decorated Christmas yard.

3:00 pm – A Christmas Pageant at Kellyville Town Hall (410 E. Buffalo).

6:00 pm – Kellyville Christmas Parade (Theme: Christmas in Toyland)

Bicycle giveaway – Almost 200 bicycles will be given away directly after the parade, at about 8:00 pm, at Kellyville Town Hall. Tickets to win a bicycle will be given during the Christmas parade. Children 1 to 13 years of age are eligible.

Kellyville Board Trustee Clifford Barnes stands with the nearly 200 bicycles that will be given away in Kellyville on Sunday. Barnes drove to Connecticut to collect 140 of the bicycles for the giveaway.

Officials at Kellyville say they have extended the length of the parade to Ash Street in order to to help with social distancing, and are recommending attendees wear a mask.

Mannford’s Christmas Parade, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 12th at 6:30 pm, is themed “Classic Board Games” and will include a Christmas Tree lighting in front of American Heritage Bank afterwards. More details here.
